A Successful Holiday Season

First off, let me start by saying, I am passionate about a lot of things...but 2 things that rate close to the top of that list are 1, my love of flying...leaving my comfort zone 9 years ago to chase my dream has been the best decision I have ever made! And 2, old stuff....I LOVE old stuff. Old houses, old farms, old furniture, old people...it's all so fascinating to me, and I find it to be way more beautiful than any modern day way of life. So in order to support my need to go junking for all these old treasures, I decided to start a side hobby of making signs and selling them online, as well as any treasures I was willing to part with to make room for greater pieces. I opened my etsy store only 2 short weeks ago, and I am completely humbled by the success I've had and the sweet emails I've received from customers letting me know how much they love my signs! There is so much more I need to do to "fine tune" my new endeavor, but its been more than I could have imagined in such a short amount of time. I'm so grateful to all my cheerleaders that have encouraged me to put myself out there, and for the countless blessings I've received along this journey.

Christmas Break

Leann has been staying with me this entire week since she has officially finished her first semester of college. We spent a day in Salt Lake Christmas shopping, and then came home and got all of our gifts wrapped and under the tree....I absolutely LOVE this time of year, and its so fun to have Leann here to share it with.

Treasure Hunting with Jenna

This last weekend Jenna & I took a road trip to do some serious treasure hunting. It was snowing, and freakishly cold that day, but we had so much fun together it didn't even matter. I spooked a large owl out of one of the shops (or should I say, he spooked me!), and as a spun around to run for my life, I slipped and fell face first, making an adult snow angel in all that freshly fallen snow. We were both laughing so hard I could hardly stand up. Anyhow, we walked away with some fantastic finds

This old hutch was love at first sight! It was buried under loads of "man junk" in an abandoned shop, but I just had to have it. So jenna, who isn't afraid of anything, dug it out for me!! I'm now scouring eBay for some inexpensive iron stone and cutter quilts to fill it with. I swear this is the reason I'm up at 5am blogging, I'm too excited to sleep! Look at all this chippy paint ....

This old medicine cabinet still has its original glass door. It's going to need its back replaced, and an extensive bubble bath, but it should be for sale shortly!

This pic doesn't do this gorgeous piece justice, probably because its covered in snow, but this was another one of my "had to have but I'm too chicken to dig it out myself" items. It's an old grain bin that is going to look fab in my living room ASAP!

My Greatest Pick So Far

So I started this blog just over a year ago to show off some of my projects...however I was completely unsuccessful when it came to sticking with it. These last couple of months I've been crafting and having great success at selling some of my creations online, so I needed a place to put these ideas and reconnect with friends! I'm still trying to figure out even HOW TO blog, but I'll get there eventually, I hope:) So how better to kick off my first post than with some pictures of the most fantastic treasure I've ever picked! ( that's right, I'm a picker...you find me a run down structure to rummage thru and I'll find something to drag home...promise) I've been wanting a farm table forever, that's just my decorating style...to buy one is crazy expensive, so last summer I built one and I've loved it. This last week while treasure hunting I found the most gorgeous table I've ever seen! It had its original blue paint chipped to perfection on the legs, the top had rusty nails and dozens of beauty marks (knife cuts), and it had wheels!! For anyone that knows about primitive decor, you know this is a rare find, especially considering it was free if I could get it thru the cow pasture. After buckets and buckets of ammonia water, and some bees wax, the gorgeous little thing is now sitting in my house!!! I'm not sure what to do with my old table now, I'm emotionally attached I think after all the work I put into building it. So I consider myself lucky to be the proud owner of two farm tables!
